The Girls do the Blog
Friday, October 31st, 2008As Stan is away in Newmarket at the Sales this week, Hannah and I are going to write the blog.
Stan did manage to pick up 1 horse from the Sales, a 2 year old filly called River Rye, she is by Acclamation, is a winner and has been placed several times. the plan will be to run her through the winter on the all-weather.
The week started well with a very exciting win from Give Us A Song at Wolverhampton on Saturday night. He battled hard to get his head in front, he will have a break now although he is a very big horse he does need to strengthen up a little.
Polish Power had an outing a Lingfield on Monday but didn’t really get competitve after a slow start. He runs again on Sunday at Southwell and we are hoping for more of a show, Liam is back on board.
Trigger McCann didn’t go on the Southwell surface on Tuesday and was disappointing when he did not pick up, finishing 3rd.
Wednesday was a very busy day for us. We had horses going to Newmarket for the Horses In Training Sales, Hum Cat, Lois Darlin and a horse we were agent for, they sold on Thursday and none of them will be coming back to Berkeley House. We had a runner at Great Leighs with Flawless Diamond then runners in the evening at Kempton with Officer In Command winning his maiden in very nice style, we were very pleased with this as we have always thought a lot of the horse. What we do with him now is the question, he seems to come out of the race very well and still is in great form, it will make a difference what the handicapper puts him up for his win. He is a big horse and more of a 3 year old than a 2 year old so a little time to develop maybe on the cards. Southandwest I thought for one moment was going to give us a double but he ran a very good race to finish 2nd. He seems to be loving the all-weather surface and will pick a race again soon.
Barathea Dreams did not run so I did not get my outing, Stan was not happy with him so we pulled him out. If his blood comes back ok next week, he will run on the all-weather at Lingfield in a Jockeys race I am sorry to say!!
The Yearlings are coming on each day and it is very exciting to see the improvement in them. We have had them up the gallops upsides this week, they are all starting to do the job nicely and there are a lot of dreams to look forward too.
As the Flat Season draws to a close, I have been putting down big hints about holidays, Stan has not yet taken the bait!!!! I will keep trying, a week of sunshine would put us right again for the winter season on the all-weather.
