Return to the cold land.
Wednesday, December 31st, 2008We hope you all had a good christmas, sorry there was no blog last week, we were away for the week in Kenya on holiday, the weather has been a bit of a shock to come back too!!!
Sara and I took the chance to get away while it was not so busy here. All the yearlings have been put on the easy list for 3 weeks, which they were ready for. The had all been going well, doing good canters, up sides, on the bridle so at this moment we are well forward. We also have a good idea of the early ones which we will crack on with early January.
The first week in January will see Total Gallery and Officer In Command coming back into full work. Both have grown and developed during their breaks and are exciting propects for 2009.
We had a good winner on Monday with Sgt Schultz, an easy winner at Great Leighs, the race was run to suit him with a very fast pace so he settled well, coming through to win easily by 4 lengths. Luke Morris rode him and that was his last winner to loose his claim, so we are pleased that he did it on one of ours. Well Done Luke!!
We have 3 runners at Lingfield today, Southandwest has come down in the handicap and off a winning mark, he is due a win as he has run a couple of good races on the all weather. Nun Today and Flawless Diamond would have each way chances.
2008 is coming to an end, it has had a lot of highs and lows for us, with the deaths of Sara’s parents, Mick and Pat, a couple of yard moves which were a lot of hard work, this was with the help of some very good friends and a very good team behind us. The opening of the new yard and house at Berkekley House Stables. Total Gallery winning the totescoop6 Redcar Trophy worth £210,000.
We have had 28 winners, 28 seconds, 23 thirds and 23 fourths from 241 runners which is better than last year. In total we have won £268,368 in prize money.
We have a lot to look forward to in 2009 with some smart older horses which will be our back bone and a lot of 2 year olds which are showing plenty of promise.
Just a quick update to finish the year off, we have had 2 fourths today and have finished the year off with a winner!!!! Well done Southandwest!!!!!!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
