And another two……….
Friday, February 26th, 2010KIRSTY’S BOY won nicely at Lingfield last Saturday and was followed up by OFFICER IN COMMAND just getting beat 3/4 length into 2nd, so another good day for us at Lingfield. Also nice to see HOLD THE BUCKS get back on the winning trail this week. He was given a canny ride by Luke Morris to beat our other runner FONG’S ALIBI who was running on well. EXCEEDTHEWILDMAN ran a great race to be 2nd, he is on top form and should win again soon.
Our horses are in top form at the moment, with 14 winners now since January, so hopefully it will stay that way for a while. We worked some 2 year olds on Tuesday and they were very pleasing - we’ll have maybe three or four early ones. Liam was in to ride out and thought they were well forward. We just need a bit of sun now as it won’t be long until the grass starts.
Nice to see someone like McCoy having a pop at the prize money situation and he is right. I don’t mean to sound repetitive but the first thing on the agenda for the powers that be, has to be prize money, otherwise we will have no owners investing in the product which supplies the entertainment. When people go racing and see what prize money is on offer it won’t entice them into ownership. As for more quality racing on Sundays, the crowds that go racing on a Sunday want big fields and not small ones as they are not your typical Saturday crowd. We have the best racing in the world and the thrill of owning a racehorse is great especially if it wins, but at the moment the owners are not getting a sporting chance with prize money at its’ current levels.
TASTE THE WINE runs tomorrow at Kempton, he would like faster ground but he will run a nice race. Our only runner over the weekend, but lots of entries for the early part of next week, let’s hope the current form continues.
