Friday 26th March - Countdown
Friday, March 26th, 2010With the start of the Flat Turf tomorrow things have been warming up, although sadly, not the weather !! Although not very busy for us this week with runners it just seems still so busy with the preparations for the turf.
ANT MUSIC ran really good last night just beaten a short head in quite a good time. He will win again soon though, is a tough little horse in his grade. OFFICER IN COMMAND runs this afternoon at Lingfield (5.00pm) and is our last chance to hit 20 winners before the start of the turf so let’s hope he does it for us, he’s in good form and I’m hopeful.
We have two 2yr olds running this weekend. SIR LUNCHALOTT at Doncaster, he might struggle in the ground and the draw not the best either but goes nicely at home and will improve for the run. IVAN’S A STAR definately has a bad draw and again will improve for the run but it will be very hard for him from his draw. On Monday, another 2 yr old runs at Lingfield - SHEILA’S STAR a filly by Hurricane Run. She has not come into her coat yet but shows good paces at home but as it is a RP Bonus Race I’m sure some could be a lot more wound up than us.
The rest of the week is quiet but great now that the turf is started. We got three new two year olds from Kempton Breeze-Up Sales, a Balmont filly and two colts (who have already been gelded) by Chevalier and Modigliani, so our 2 yr old division is growing nicely.
Very sad news this week with the death of Liam Cashman, a real gentleman and a great help to me when I started up in the business. A big loss to the industry and will be greatly missed.
A lot of people will be in Dubai this weekend for the World Cup Meeting with big pots to be won. I think California Flag in the Al Quasi will go well. Crowded House e/w in the Big One but it’s very international and tough and may be best just watched !!
My bet for the weekend in the Lincoln at Doncaster is:- Mull of Killough e/w
Next week sees the Betfair Lambourn Open Day on Good Friday - we will be Open from 9.00am so do come along and see us. There’s lots of entertainment in the afternoon up at the field in the Village so let’s hope we get some good weather for the day. It’s all for good causes, so come along and support the Racing Community in Lambourn.
